Picking The Right Vacuum Cleaner For Your Home

Keeping your home clean may perhaps be something you like or absolutely loathe. Maybe I should qualify that to some extent. People who may enjoy cleaning and scrubbing all the bits and pieces of the home may not completely enjoy the task but they like to see their house spic and span and take pride in it’s appearance. Scores of gadgets exist to make the tasks involved in cleaning the home easier and high on this inventory of devices is the vacuum cleaner. Most homes have one and some have more than one. If you are in the market to get a vacuum cleaner, a new model or an addition then what do you look for. This informative article will address a number of the issues about how to select a vacuum cleaner.

The 1st task when picking the right vacuum cleaner is to know what it will be primarily used for. Is your house wall to wall carpets or are there other surfaces that may require cleaning. As an illustration most of the house may have tiles, wood flooring and even linoleum in places like the kitchen and bathroom. If only a couple of rooms have carpets then a vacuum cleaner may not need to be heavy duty or you may want a general purpose cleaning system which will clean all surfaces.

Besides that, what about specifics of your home. Do you have pets and do they molt or get rid of plenty of hair all over the place. Then you may require a cleaner which will cope with sizeable quanities of fine hair. Perhaps it should have a bigger bag or more robust moving parts so that the appliance doesn’t get blocked anytime you use it. Maybe it needs cleaning equipment that ensure it is easy to remove the pet hair.

After you have selected a vacuum cleaner that you know is up to the job for your specific home, then you probably need to think about how it suits the person or people who are going to be using it. And other considerations for the people that will inhabit in the house.

So I am talking about the size and weight of the unit. Whether it is upright or drags behind you. Several units even strap onto your back like a backpack (these are more commercial type cleaners though). The weight might be crucial, in particular if you live in a home containing two or more levels. If you live in a small abode like a flat or apartment then the agility of the cleaner may be important to get into every nook and cranny.

When it comes to the people who live in the home, you may want to consider how loud the machine is while it’s operating. This is also pertinent for the user of the vacuum cleaner as well. If they put it to use frequently they don’t want a blaring racket in their ears the whole time.

Another consideration for the residents of the home is the type of filtration system on the appliance. The filtration system will prevent dust and pollen from spreading after the appliance has been used. This will stop allergic reactions to these substances from individuals with hypersensitive noses and respiratory systems.

Some Vacuum Cleaner Shopping Tips For You

Choosing a vacuum cleaner used to be easy, they all had bags and were all pretty similar, so the question was just which brand did you like the best and which was the best value for money. Now the vacuum cleaner market has exploded, primarily I think because of the introduction of the bagless cleaner by Dyson. That sparked a wave of creativity from the other manufacturers to try and keep up with this radical new design.

So the once humble design of the vacuum cleaner has now changed and you can find them in bright colours and weird shapes to compliment their new wild sounding names and wonderful new attachments. Yet do we need all this new technology? Most people were happy with their old vacuums that did the job without any fuss. Below we look at the main options you have now when you go shopping for a vacuum cleaner:

Bagless: The original design by Dyson to do away with the bag in a vacuum cleaner was supposed to solve the problem of a your unit with a bag losing power as the bag fills up with dirt, and it turned the industry on its head when it launched. The jury is still out though as to whether there is any significant benefit to the technology, and if there is one then if it outweighs the drawbacks. For instance if you have allergies then the fact you have to empty all the dust and dirt out into a bag or bin when it is full is a lot messier than just throwing away a full bag like with a normal model.

Upright: This is the traditional design for a vacuum cleaner, whether bagged or bagless. The upright structure allows you to easily push and pull the unit to clean large areas of floor, and you can get easy access to all the attachments that come with it and to the bag/container when it needs emptying.

Canister vacuum: This design is made for getting into hard to reach places in houses without a lot of open floor space. The actual mechanics of the unit are all contained in a little canister on the floor and then a long hose comes out of it which you can put attachments on to do the cleaning. This means in a room with lots of furniture then it outperforms the upright because you can use the long hose to get under and around things, but it is much harder to clean large areas of open carpet with it.

Carpet cleaner: The final option is to go even deeper and go for a machine that can shampoo your carpets as well to really get the dirt out of them. You need to get one of these in addition to a normal vacuum, because I don’t know of any machines that can do both shampooing and normal cleaning, but they can be a great buy if you do get one. Over time a lot of dirt and grime gets worked into the carpet which makes it unhygienic and makes it lose its colour and look older that it really is, a carpet cleaner can bring it back to its former glory for you, and they are relatively cheap too.

The Hoover F5914-900 is a great value carpet cleaner and it is a top seller on Amazon.com at the moment.

Carpet Vacuuming Dos and Don’ts

Many seem to avoid vacuuming their carpeting. Preferring instead to postpone or delay the task for another day. And no big deal right? It doesn’t hurt anything to put off a task that few relish or enjoy.

Actually that’s a mistake. One that’s not good for the health of your carpet or your family. That because accumulated dust can make allergy sufferers miserable. Plus sand and grit deposited on the surface of your carpet sooner or later works it’s way to the backing where the abrasive particles cut away at the very carpet fibers themselves.

Besides did you know there’s a right and wrong way to go about vacumming? Well there is. And guess what? Most do it wrong one way or another.

Anyway, once all this is clearly explained vacuuming regularly will just make sense. As will moving it up the priority on your house cleaning to do list. Even better, here are nine simple tips for problem free yet effective vacuuming that will inspire you to vacuum regularly.

Divide your carpet into high and all other traffic areas. Vacuuming the high traffic areas like halls and stairs a couple times a week is best. While weekly is sufficient for the rest.

Most dirt that comes into your house comes in on the bottom of your shoes. Use walk mats to reduce this. Even better get everyone to leave their shoes at the door.

It helps if when vacuuming your vacuum is at its best. You can insure that by changing filter bags or filters sooner rather than later. Don’t try to save a few pennies by using obviously dirty filters or bags more than three quarters full. As clogged filtering medium is the reason the suction power of your vacuum seems to die. Typically you want to replace vacuum bags when they hit about 75% full. And the filters on bagless models like every 90 days – assuming typical usage.

Here’s the most common mistake most make – they’re in too big of a hurry. That’s right, one quick pass and they call it good. Actually it’s better to run over high traffic areas like five or six times. Giving the beater bar a chance to do it’s job and thoroughly extract the dirt.

Be sure the height setting on your vac is right. Too low and you risk damage to the vacuum itself. Too high and you’re not applying the head to the fibers to extract the dirt.

The idea is to work against the pile, if you would, to loosen the embedded dirt particles in the pile. Using the power and weight of the vacuum head to accomplish this after repeated passes over the same section.

Keep your vacuum maintained: Clean the brushes, check the belts, inspect the vacuum head regularly. Removing anything that has wrapped itself around the beater brush.

Avoid running over the cord with the vacuum. Find a central location, plug it in and keep it behind you as much as you can.

Despite the mounted light, do this job when you can see where you’re vacuuming.

Nothing beats the look of a freshly vacuumed carpet. If you have a bagless vac you can even see how much dirt, dust, hair and debris you’ve extracted from the rug. And it’s a good feeling knowing your home is clean and fresh.

Now to find out which vacuums stand out from the crowd a visit to AskTheVacuumGuy.com can help. Is there a Dirt Devil Vacuum among them? Did the Miele Capricorn make the cut? Read the reviews found at that helpful site and you’ll soon know which one best suits your needs.

The Roomba Way to Clean the Floors

The iRobot Roomba 560 is one of the most powerful automatic vacuum cleaners in the iRobot Roomba line. The iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaners are able to sweep up soil, sand, food and pet hair up from all kinds of floors and carpets completely on their own. Although the iRobot Roomba 560 appears to be a diminutive appliance, it is very powerful and can pick up anything in the carpet quickly and completely. If you are searching for a way to clean your carpeting or wood or tile without being required to shift furniture on your own, you ought to get the iRobot Roomba 560.

There are a few different robotic vacuum cleaners which comprise the iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaner series. The iRobots automatically sweep up the floor each time you put them on the floor and allow them to start cleaning. The iRobot Roomba 560 is one of the company’s most powerful models and will sweep up even the most tenacious pet hair. Additionally, it can go beneath beds and couches in your rooms that might otherwise be overlooked when you are sweeping up yourself.

Many people tend to vacuum the normally used paths through our homes when we clean the carpet or the floors. This is sensible because those areas are where the majority of the dirt and dust fall. In spite of this, though, dirt and pet hair will accumulate under furniture. If you have a dog, you know that the animal often snuggles under the beds and other furniture, leaving behind its dander. This can set off breathing problems in many people and is basically unsanitary for anyone else. However, lifting the bed or trying to reach beneath your bed using the attachments for a vacuum cleaner might be difficult. You usually cannot see properly underneath the bed, and can have a rough time reaching every spot, specifically if you own a large bed.

This is the point when the iRobot Roomba 560 vacuum cleaner is very useful. The machine can easily creep beneath your bed and vacuum up each speck of dust and hair that is beneath the bed. It can sweep up even the most obstinate pet hair, and will leave your rooms much more clean. If you are cleaning your hard floors, the iRobot Roomba can clean the floor gently, without marking the floor. It is safe for use on any type of surface and only needs the batteries to be recharged after usage.

While the majority of people negotiate with vacuum cleaners that are powerful, but heavy, the iRobot Roomba 560 is compact and is capable of doing the consistently effective cleaning job that a large, bulky canister vacuum can do. As it can easily glide around all of your walls and furniture without damaging them, it can offer an improved performance in getting your floors clean than those upright vacuum cleaner. If you are looking for a way to vacuum your floors and not have to vacuum all of the time, you may want to contemplate owning the cutting edge iRobot Roomba 560 vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning Tips From The Atlanta Carpet Cleaning Shop

Is it a hassle keeping up with carpets and making sure they’re cleaned? Everyday we send our professionals from the Atlanta Carpet Cleaning Shop to work at peoples homes, answering that question for them. Often, we like to share our favorite at home tips with our customers so they can enjoy their carpets year round, too. This article collects some of those best tips to share with you!

1. Vacuum your carpet regularly. Regular vacuuming does not mean once a year or once every season or whenever you feel like it. You should vacuum your carpeted floor at least once a week to remove dirt, dust, and other unknown particles. You should pay close attention to areas with high traffic.

2. Buy a door mat for each entrance of the home. This is for people to wipe their feet. Don’t forget that you will also need to clean the door mats regularly too.

3. Don’t forget to vacuum underneath any rugs you have on your carpets. This area needs to get cleaned too! If you wash the rug, let it dry completely before placing it back on the carpet or else it might discolor the floor.

4. Be sure to use mild dish washing soap for stain removal off the carpet. Stronger soaps can just create a stain or faded spot of their own. Be sure to also test this solution is a private spot on the carpet before using it on the stain to ensure it will not cause a further problem with staining!

5. Another carpet cleaning tip is to blot off any spilled liquids immediately using paper towel or clean white cloth. Do not use brush or anything rough because they can affect the texture or fluffiness of your carpet. To remove food or chewing gums which landed on your carpet, use a spatula, spoon, or anything thin and flat to scrape off food and chewing gum from your carpet.

6. No matter what kind of stain you are working with, when cleaning it up, start from the outer edge and work towards the middle. This will ensure the stain doesn’t spread. Sometimes it can dip into non-stained areas if you start from the middle instead.

Carpet cleaning is a fairly straight forward task if you have the right knowledge at your disposal. As you can see, it doesn’t even take spending much money. Using what you already have at home, along with a little elbow grease, can clean most stains from the carpets. Do this and you won’t even have to call the Atlanta Carpet Cleaning shop for help!

Carpet Cleaning Tips From Atlanta Cleaners

If you have small children, you know it’s probably a relief to have carpet on your floors instead of a rough hardwood floor that they can (and probably will) bump their head on. The only bad part of having little kids and carpets is this means they are going to be spilling juice and food and other stuff on the carpets, causing a headache while you try and clean up the mess off the carpets.

Fortunately, there are many ways to clean your carpet using household products! These practical cleaning tips can be implemented using items already found in your home without buying any additional cleaning tools. Here are 3 of the most popular ones.

1. To make a general stain remover solution, mix together water with a dish washing soap of your choice that is free of bleach and alkaline chemicals. (Otherwise you run the risk of discoloring the carpet.) Blot the stained carpeted area with the solution and then rub it with a brush. Wipe off any extra solution with a towel. This will remove many different types of stains.

2. Bleach stains on the carpet can be removed using the solution just described. Using this solution, blot the stained area where you are doing the carpet cleaning job. Then let it sit for 5 or 6 minutes. Repeat until the stain is gone. Be sure to start from the outside of the bleached area and work inward. Once removed, blot with cold water and wipe clean with a paper towel.

3. Chewing gum is very difficult to remove once it accidentally lands on your carpet floor. However, this carpet cleaning task is not impossible. All you need to do is to try to scrape off the chewing gum using a flat and thin object like a spatula. First, use a small brush to remove any gum debris. Rub the spot with ice placed inside a plastic bag to harden the leftover gum. Once the remaining gum on the carpet has been frozen, then scrape it off using a spatula. Finally, prepare a mixture of water and dish washing soap and apply this on the spot. Continuously blot and rinse with water once you are sure that no trace of gum can be found on the spot.
