Gourmet Coffee Requires A Gourmet Coffee Maker

If you are a coffee lover then you have probably tried many different coffee roasts. But have you ever experimented with different coffee makers. Many people use the same old coffee maker without giving much though to other options available. The truth is that a quality cup of coffee is largely determine by the machine used to make it.

Many Makers To Choose From

For most of us the morning coffee routine begins with our drip coffee maker. These are the most common coffee makers around today and it is no wonder why. All you need to do is add your water to the reservoir, put in a fresh coffee filter, and add your grounds. Press start or set a timer the night before and when you return you have a pot of coffee ready to drink. Definitely convenient but not the highest quality.

The problem with the drip coffee maker is twofold. First, the filter detracts form the flavor of the coffee. Second, these coffee makers are almost entirely constructed of cheap plastic. Plastic is slightly porous and retains the flavor of past brewed coffee. This means that ever batch you make is flavored by old coffee.

Luckily the French Press offers an affordable solution to these problems. A cleverly designed gourmet coffee maker, the French Press is made of glass and stainless steel. You simply add your ground coffee and hot water to it and wait a little while. When you coffee has had sufficient time to brew then you slowly press down the plunger. The metal strainer traps the coffee grounds on the bottom and leaves coffee at the top. Many people believe the French Press is the ultimate gourmet coffee maker.

However, some coffee drinkers don’t like the French Press because it tends to leave more sediment in the coffee than other methods. These coffee aficionados prefer the vacuum coffee maker. Through a vacuum process, the coffee is rendered free of nearly all sediment and there is no need for a coffee filter. Unfortunately, this is a more expensive gourmet coffee maker.

The ultimate gourmet coffee maker is perhaps the espresso machine. Although very expensive, the espresso machine makes high quality coffee without the use of a filter. High end machines are almost always constructed with quality metal parts. These machines send hot water at a high pressure through tightly packed coffee grounds. The coffee can be made very quickly and the many settings can alter the flavor.

No matter your budget there is a gourmet coffee maker for you. Each one has it’s own unique qualities and different people prefer different machines over others, but all make exceptional coffee. So instead of sticking with your old drip coffee machine, why not try one of the many quality filterless coffee making approaches? You’ll be glad you did!
